MR. TOMONOSHi!’s BANGA

MR. TOMONOSHi!'s work is heavily influenced by the DIY culture of blaxploitation, and the playfulness of Saturday Morning Cartoons; incorporating elements of anime, graphic design, graffiti, and video games into his motion graphic comics, giving them a raw, unpolished and fluid animated feel. His signature Banga art style is a fascinating unification of eclectic influences and his imaginative artistry. In the Knuckle Sammich Banga series the best of his craftsmanship is on full display, the stylish characters move with a fluency across the screen that feels both cartoony and lifelike, their expressions often exaggerated conveying a wide range of emotions. The imaginative architecture of his backgrounds amplify the gritty underground playground energy that is always present in his work. The use of shading and lighting gives the characters a sense of weight and presence, despite them being lineless and their fashion choices will surely make them the style icons of every playground.     A stylish tech savvy street fighting school girl who dreams to one day become a samurai warrior and the CEO of TOMONOSHi! LABS.

    NICKNAME: FATTY MCFAT FATTS

    A sumo sized penguin with a sumo sized appetite, Kokoro’s best friend Nooshi is a master of disguise and a lover of naps and snacks.

  • TAUBE

    NICKNAME: BIG T

    TAUBE or Training Assistant Universal Battle Bot E was built by Kokoro in her robotics class to help her train to become a samurai warrior. His programming has since been modified allowing him to become so much more.

CREW BIOGRAPHIES

  • FLOWER GIRL

    Kokoro bloomed from a flower seed planted during a drought, her birth brought a period of great beauty and freshness to the countryside of Brookokyo, and an end to the drought. A gift from Mother Nature to her parents,  a Samurai and a Sen Soeki. 


    Her Father, the Samurai, sold the family’s Tea House in the countryside shortly after her mother’s death and moved into the bustling city of Brookokyo where he opened the hottest new restaurant Knuckle Sammich, an ice cream sammich shop located in the TOMONOSHi! Kung Fu Plaza. Kokoro, her BFF Nooshi, and the humanoid robot she built, Taube, work diligently to keep up with the demand. 



    The stylish tech savvy Kokoro Bloom has a high aptitude for robotics, which makes her a star pupil at her new prep school TOMONOSHi! Tech. She’s a smart, cool, and cute samurai who loves jazz and is all about that action.  Her dream is to master the sword like her father, and to one day become the CEO of TOMONOSHi! Labs like her hero MR.TOMONOSHi! 


  • FATTY MCPHAT FATS

    The last of the Kumimanu Penguin Clan, also known as the Sumo Penguins due to their overwhelming size and their wrestling rituals, in which the Kumimanu Penguins would wrestle inside a circle of rocks, ramming into each other with their bellies in an attempt to knock their opponent out of the ring to win a dispute or the love of a companion. 


    Nooshi was just nesting when he was separated from his family during a firestorm that ravaged their homes. Lost and hungry, his belly led him to the Tea House one day where he met Kokoro. She shared her bowl of ramen and ALL of her sushi with him, he went to sleep immediately after. They’ve been BFFs ever since that day. Kokoro named him Nooshi after witnessing his love for both ramen and sushi. (NOO)dles + su(SHI). 


    Nooshi is a master of disguise; he has an uncanny ability to blend into any room by changing his appearance with his wardrobe. He developed this survival skill to steal food from places when he was on his own. Now he uses his ability to not only occasionally steal food but to also solve mysteries, which he likes to be paid for with food for solving. 

  • BIG T

    Taube was designed and built by the brilliant Kokoro Bloom for her robotics class at TOMONOSHi! Tech Prep School. As a Training Assistant Universal Battle Bot (E). Taube was programmed to help Kokoro train to improve her fighting skills. His limbs are detachable allowing him to transform into whatever he needs to be to complete his task. 


    He has a waterproof outer shell protecting him from water damage and can display different data on his screen. Up to 3 programming chips can fit into his data ports, allowing his programming to be modified depending on the chip installed. He’s currently operating a samurai chip, playground chip, and a BFF chip, which form his personality. Taube continues to learn with every interaction, which allows him to grow into more than just his code.


My creative intentions have always been to make the world a more playful place by opening up my imagination for others to play in. Knuckle Sammiches is my attempt to put my imagination into your pocket, by merging art + technology I was able to create a digital playground that you can access whenever you want to tap in and play. The idea of the entire world having access to my imagination at their fingertips is really exciting. I cannot wait for us all to play together.
